‘Just My Type’ by Simon Garfield is a book about fonts. I manage to get a hold of this book on sale at a bookshop in Anchorpoint that is selling it for SGD8 while walking around aimlessly.
This book is like a trivia and fun facts on all the different typefaces. It has a very interesting layout after the coverpage that shows the Periodic Table of Typeface.
While looking through the typeface, I stumbled one on the topic of Futura, which explores on a real world problem when a major company like IKEA changes its trademark elegant Futura typeface in August 2009 in favour of the modern Verdana.
Somehow it makes me think, does a font makes a huge impact on a company’s branding?
